First introduced to the world inside a modest city in Texas around the turn of the 20th century, Holdem has expanded to take its spot as the world’s most popular poker casino game. Consider you are ready to step up to the table?

Hold em is different than draw poker in that players try to produce the very best hand possible out of up to 7 cards dealt. 5 of those cards are observable to all the players, and act as the community cards, or the "board." The game starts with each player being dealt 2 cards face down – these cards are recognized as the hole or pocket cards.

Since most Texas hold em games do not require a gambler to ante up, the game generally uses huge blinds and smaller blinds in order to produce certain there’s some cash in the pot. The small blind is put up by the player left of the croupier, usually half the amount of the massive blind, put up by the player left of the smaller blind. The massive blind then becomes the minimal wager in what is known as the "pre-flop" round of wagering.

The croupier throws down a burn card, followed by three face-up community cards referred to as "the flop." Cue yet another round of wagering, an additional burn card and then a 4th community card known as "the turn." Much more betting is followed by one additional burn card and a last community card named "the river."

After this comes the last round of betting, and if more than one player is still standing, the showdown, where regular poker principles apply to the succeeding hands. In the case that 2 players draw their finest hands entirely from the community cards, then the pot is split amongst them.

Bear in mind, before you believe you’re on top of the world because you have got a pair of tens in the hole, there is a lot far more cards and probable combinations out there, specifically in the game with a large number of players. Do not let that prevent you from aggressive play, even so, if you’re in a powerful position before the flop. Come out powerful and continue increasing – if you are able to obtain others to fold, then you have help thin out the opposition and improve your chances at winning. But if the flop does not fall in your favor and it appears to cause a flurry of new betting, you might look at folding. There is usually the next hand.
