Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve final game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers in the world. While betting on internet poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world might be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in cash games?
