Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve closing poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While competing in online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I believe television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best players anywhere in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen playing net poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in big stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
