Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve last table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While wagering on net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He often plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.
Playing for the min takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I think tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world may be players you have never heard of. Gus can be seen gambling on net poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in high stakes omaha hold’em and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
