Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental comments from others kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
