Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
